Designing and manufacturing the duct automatically and manually

They are air passages and ducts that distribute the required amount of air to the areas to be conditioned, ensuring it reaches those spaces efficiently.

Most of them are made from galvanized steel sheets that are corrosion and rust-resistant, as well as being strong and easy to shape. They are also made from aluminum and stainless steel, but these materials are used for specific applications.

The steel sheets are formed, and the air ducts and their accessories are designed in Boroda for Air Conditioning under the supervision of experienced engineers, according to the dimensions specified in the design plans previously prepared by the studies department. These are made to the measurements and thicknesses specified by the global standards (SMACNA), which is the international association of sheet metal contractors and HVAC professionals.

Types of ducts!

Air ducts are made in different shapes:

  • The most important shapes are square or rectangular, along with their connections, and they are more widely used due to their ease of concealment in false ceilings.
  • Circular air ducts and their connections are made according to the required diameter and are often used in places where there are no gypsum ceilings.
  • Oval air ducts, which are somewhat similar to circular ones but differ in their manufacturing method.
  • Air ducts are considered an important and integral part of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems!
  • In HVAC systems, including “concealed air conditioning, central air conditioning, and evaporative cooling,” they work to transport and distribute air in specific quantities and return the exhaust air to be re-cooled again in the central air conditioning system and sometimes in the concealed system.
  • In ventilation systems, they work to transport undesirable air outside from “garages, restaurants, swimming pools, bathrooms, isolation rooms in hospitals, and others.”

Duct insulation!

The air ducts (Duct) are insulated with fiberglass (fiber glass) both on the outside and inside. However, on the inside, it is covered with a layer to protect it from moisture and prevent the spread of fiberglass particles in the air, in order to maintain the temperature of the air flowing from the fans through the air ducts, flexible connections, boxes, and reaching the air outlets (grills).

The insulation also works to reduce the noise level of the airflow, in order to meet global standards.

Accessories and components of the duct!

  • Canvas is a connector with metal ends and a type of fabric in the middle that helps absorb vibrations generated by the unit and prevents them from transferring to the “duct.”
  • Flexible connectors link the “duct” to the air distribution boxes and are insulated with fiberglass. They are characterized by their flexibility, ease of shaping, and ability to be passed through tight spaces.
  • The Plenum Box connects the flexible connectors to the air outlets and is also insulated from the inside.
  • The Dumber is used to control the speed and volume of airflow and to divide it. It can be operated manually or automatically, and it comes in various types.
  • The grilles (Grilles) are the air outlet openings and come in several types: “side, longitudinal, square, circular, and jet.”
